Guinea Lynx has been online in some form since 2000!

I am dedicated to keeping Guinea Lynx going for as long as those people who value it are willing to help cover basic costs. This also depends on my physical and mental health and ability to manage the site. Major challenges this past year involve the proliferation of data collection bots which can and have crippled the site. Requiring registration for full access seems to slow their effect.

I updated you to Supporter in 2026.

We (our neighborhood) are getting ready for the snow tomorrow (Saturday/Sunday)! The snow is forecast to be topped with 1/2" or so of ice. Richmond will get more ice and less snow. I expect along with the ice will be massive power outages.

That snow I mentioned, my car has been frozen in the driveway for several days. I bravely (with encouragement of my mailman), did drive out and successfully returned on Friday, Jan 30 (the road was finally plowed that day after the snowstorm from the previous weekend). This was possible due to the gritty ice crust on top of the snow that actually provided some traction (maybe 6" of snow topped by 1/2"-3/4" ice pellets).

Then tried to get out when it got somewhat warmer on the 4th only to get stuck on the return.

So I am waiting for the promised 50 degree temps Tuesday, Wed to free me. The bitter (for us) cold this past weekend (single digits, high winds) has been brutal. I happily forced myself to watch the half time Bad Bunny show yesterday.

I can't wait for spring!!!!!!
