So we went to exotic vet(same as before) for ultrasound..
We were nervous but all we could do is go as we said on football balls up, heart on the field;).

I already felt at home what the vet felt in her stomach..its like little bean in her stomach.. but it didnt seem that hard(solid to me, but i am no doctor). I said what if its lipomma..vet said no way cause its in her stomach not on skin..
He checked it out..first time he was assuming it might be cancerous..but he said after ultrasound it does look like cyst (hormonal changes)-excuse me my english is not the best, i am no doctor so i can only explain this much).
Vet said sterelization is hard on guinea pig(he is fairly experienced and exotic vet) and he even explain why..but i was too out of it to follow what you need to connect in the stomach or sth..
We only focused on our state.
He suggested Gonovet injection, but i said we need to think and check it out first.
I know it sound so scared and anoxious, but ..i had to fight battles on my own, y see?
I didnt have this one vet exotic who i can always call..yes we worked with a lot of them..but there s only a few..so i knew forget your ego forget it all..be as normal and kind as you can..pigs matters..and that only. And you dont have 20 choices you have 3. So, behave.
However he didnt take it bad..he said alright..
He is easygoing and cool..cause the vets we worked with some were such an egos you wouldnt belive-but if someone is skiled..y know i respect that..despite if i wrote all what they said to me you wouldnt belive..but i wont:) IT doesnt matter...

So Win didnt immidiatly got injection.
Vet said we could try to give her injection for 14 days and cyst or sth should shrink if it doesnt its something else, but he thinks it will...

I dont know how we will deal with it on long terms..even if its just a cyst..we are not 100%sure.
She had hairless spots enlarged and cursty niples and its dominant(i think it really suits her, she s not nervous that much-it helps her shyness and trauma cause she s one smart naughty girl and hormonal changes helped her get that out.
If we opted chemical implants i had to ask whish one are even available+ it can work less after time and she would need regular ultrasound(stress)
if we risk surgery.. in Wins case..thats such a hard decission..i could decide hardly to drive Irie for skin formation surgery when he was same age and i knew even that we think about him living really long..cause if you take sb is 3 and will live 5 you wont go for surgery, but if you take they can live 8 or 9 its different story. Anyway skin formation surgery its nothing compared to this.
But we take all things seriously and i took Irie to best exotic vet surgeon here and around. She did brilliant. It paid off.

Now probably we would go for Gonovet injection and than wait 3 weeks if its working...
Anybody has experience with it? Does it have any side effects? Its effective? Is it safe for guinea pigs..

We need to do all research..and you can tell us how you would decide.

And before we went to vet we prayed and listened to Skynyrd-Still Unbroken Richards-Harder They Come and Who-Bargain..So we can live the houe with heads up..
Somewhat we know exotic vet can help but wont save us.
If anyone will it will be Almighty and rocknroll...:)

I am not familiar with that particular drug but it sounds like it should be one that would help her hormonally without the risks of surgery.

I think you are doing the right thing, and your vet is right. I'd get the injection if it were me.

I've never used that particular drug, but the internet tells me it's a veterinary hormone therapy used in cattle. (Guinea pigs are, in some ways, much like very small cows.) I've probably used it under a different brand name in the US.

My personal experience with spaying females was horrible. Others' pigs have recovered very well. It's very invasive surgery.

Hormone therapy may not work quite as well as a spay (close, but not perfect). It also may need to be repeated over time. From my experience I'll take it over any surgery unless there simply is no choice (i.e., cancer). We had no problems with it (other than the stress of the vet trip for the injection(s)).

Let us know how it goes and very, very best to Winnie and to you.

Thank you both very much..

Thank you Talishan for extended oppinion. Were your pigs that didnt take surgery well otherwise healthy?
As far as i know and remember here they get(with experienced exotic vet butorphanol and gas anasthesia for surgeries.

I think main ingredient of Gonavet is Gonadorelin[6-D-Phe).
I ve read on old topics bpatters mentioned Lupron and i know Ringo had injections of i think superlorin or sth..

As far as i understood vet want to test(fast) if the formation will shrink in the first place, than we will seek other solutions?

I dont wanna anything to cause her any damage. This gonavet. I ve read on this forum some vet used it on his guinea pig, but then the poster didnt report any additional informations..

If she would be in perfect health(well she s functioning well, anyway) but she surely have some health issues, i would go for surgery i think with our surgeon if she would agree most likely(even i know this vet must be very good, but our surgeon operates frogs and fishesas well so she s on another level i would say)..now we will see. Only problem with this vet is long drive-i dont mind, just dont wanna stress Win, Irie didnt care, too..Lee was operated by different very experienced surgeon who is much closer, but i had my doubts i can work sth out with him..
.I plan to ask like 4vets what do they think so..+ our one who is helping us..
Than we will decide..probably will go back on 25. 8..hope we will get all informations we needed till then..and of course i will ask vet about dossage and all.
My mafia nick name(We had it for our pigs too jokingly is) El Panico(my sister said that)..i like it y know it suits me well:)

Thank you for the help and i hope this help other pigs and people to if they will need informations one day..

El Panico, lol! I got tickled at that. I understand completely. :-)

The pig who passed very quickly after surgery was losing a lot of weight very quickly, which is why we opted for the surgery. "Other" than that, she seemed fine. She was an adult but wasn't very old. 2, 3, maybe? She came from an animal control (pound) so I don't know. To the best of my knowledge she had nothing else wrong with her other than ovarian cysts, but we did not have a necropsy done.

The vet that did the surgery had an excellent reputation; many successful spays on other pigs. She was also somewhat cocky and cavalier about it in my opinion, calling the surgery a "routine spay" and acting rather breezy about it. A spay is NOT repeat NOT EVER "routine" on a guinea pig; they're smaller than dogs, cats, and rabbits and again, this is very invasive surgery and recovery is intense and demanding on any small prey animal. Never again unless there is absolutely no other choice. That's my experience. Others have much better ones.

A competent surgeon (which it sounds like you have) is an absolute must.

We had a few pigs on different types of hormone therapy. Never had a problem with any of them, other than they're not necessarily a permanent solution. My experience only.

Thank you both for an asnwer... sure is brilliant nickname, yeah, haha..

I am very sorry, Talishan for your dear pig lady and may she rock in peace on other side..
Cocky is never good even tough two vets we worked with were both experience exotic, but cocky-sure, they were.. And than when there is hard times it makes it even harder.. they were both experienced tough..i like confident and simple if its possible.
We never brought no animal for necrospy, its hard enough without and may body rest in peace and soul lives on as far as i see things.

This vet we will go to injection to said same as you for surgery-that i tought omg if he doesnt belive in sucess y know...i think he is just careful and realistic ..we have 3 options for surgeons anyway.all in their 40s i think, so..

I would like to avoid it..but than we will also like to have peace..however if she s goin for surgery ever it sure will be next year when she s gonna be 4 or she wont and we will try to manage it with injections and/or impalnts...

Will keep you posted..
