Her skin is looking better. It’s a nice pink and I don’t see any flakes or crust. I would imagine it was sore, so she should be feeling more comfortable now. I’m checking her over hoping it doesn’t crop up elsewhere.

Her new nickname is Butter Buns.

That is good news! Thanks for the update! It does seem like we don't always know what is wrong but if you throw enough treatments for likely issues (bacterial infection AND/OR fungal infection), something should help. (p.s. mites can cause issues too)

I also hope Ms. Butter Buns' skin clears up completely (with no other issues).

Millie has been doing well and living the good life. Today I noticed she has a weepy eye. It’s watery, and I noticed some matter this afternoon. I couldn’t tell if it was the milky eye cleaning discharge or not.

The eye rim looks a little irritated. The white part of the eye is clear with no redness that I can see. Looked it over a few times under a bright light and I don’t see anything in there except a hair that I removed. I thought it might be hay irritating the eye. I had hay in a paper bag and she loves to snuffle but that may have been a mistake.

I cleaned the area with warm water and put in a drop of artificial tears that I use. It’s just lubricant, none of the anti-redness ingredients.

I need to get some sterile eye wash solution. Can I use the eye wash they sell for people at Walgreens or should I get something like Vetricyn? It would be good to have on hand.

I will also contact a vet depending on how it looks. We don’t have an exotic certified vet in the area anymore. However, we have a couple vets with guinea pig experience and one of them is in the clinic on weekends.

I am guessing the human kind would be perfectly fine for just rinsing the eye. You might want to compare the ingredients to see if the veterinary product also includes a lubricant.

If there is something lodged under the lid, I hope it comes out on its own.

Her eye looks better but is still tearing a little. She gets bug eyes when I hold her so it’s easy to see around the iris and the white part looks okay. I don’t see any inflammation. I did try to look around under the lid top and bottom. Yesterday there was a hair on the eye and I removed that. Didn’t find anything else.

I’m putting lubricating drops in morning and evening.

That is funny about the bug eyes when held! Animals each have their own way of reacting - sometimes hormones factor in.
Chicken story: Ginger trembling when I give her a little hug at night; soft silky and jumpy Ebon, cool as a cucumber when I give her a hug (nicer during egg laying season). These same two chickens just fine when I am hanging around them during the day - happy to keep me company and take treats.

They all have their personalities and quirks. Millie’s eye looks good today.

Our dog Snarly Charlie, however, has a sore back or hip and was limping and holding it up this morning. He got a couple of massages and some gabapentin. I phoned the vet and she prescribed carprophen. He’s better tonight but woozie. He’s a little old crabby rescue so it’s hard to help him out. I have to muzzle him for just about everything.

Its a Zoo as i was full on into dog world couple of years ago or many i can so relate-i really wish Charlie the best, you are doing such a great job..!!
And the luck is always needed! I am sending positive vibrations your way.. and i am happy for Millie, too, of course!

Thanks for the feedback and well wishes. Millie’s eye looks good, it was probably hay irritation. I did get some Vetricyn eye rinse and ointment so I have that on hand.

Snarly Charlie (AKA Crabby Patties) is doing better also. He’s getting a couple of short walks each day and we’re keeping him off the stairs.
