Glad she is eating. Let us know what you find out on Monday.

Ditto Sef.

This is a long shot but this is starting to sound a bit like interstitial cystitis to me.

For more info, use the search feature for "interstitial" or "interstitial cystitis". There are tons of threads about, essentially, not-otherwise-explainable-blood-in-urine.

Good luck tomorrow.

The blood in her urine stopped for 4 days but now Squeak still has blood in her urine agai. Ultra sound is now Monday July 18. She seems to have a good appetite. She is having a lot of fur loss, when I brush and pet her. I did treat her for mites yesterday. Not 100% sure she has them but can’t explain her itchiness and fur loss.

Sometimes mites can get the upper hand when a guinea pig has another illness. Glad you chose to do so.

I also read up on IC and chronic bladder inflammation. Thankful how much info there is on here. I plan to compose an email to the vet( she isn’t there till Friday am) and provide her with this possibility. I will keep you updated and am trying to be hopeful.

You're doing all the right things. Stay objective, hopeful, and keep going. It can be really rough to get to the bottom of 'mysteries' like this; many of us have been there and fully understand. Keep going.

Update: the ultra sound showed basically that Squeak is pretty good. In fact it didn’t show anything abnormal. Her urine sample was sent off to the lab to see if anything grows BUT she has been on doxycycline so not sure that it will show anything. For nOw the vet says cystitis.
I have meloxicam for inflammation for Squeak.

Thanks for the update. I hope the meloxicam helps with any pain/discomfort.

The urinalysis came back with: coryne bacterium renale. It is a very hard to treat bacteria. For now squeak will continue the doxycycline for another 3 weeks along with the meloxicam and add in another pain medication called bupirnorphine (?). She may try an antibiotic called sulfatram or something that sounds like that.

This bacteria can be painful and it is not easy to treat.

Any info or support is helpful. Fortunately Squeak is eating good.

The pain med is likely Buprenorphine, and Sulfatrim is sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim---also commonly known as Bactrim. See:
https://www.guinealynx.info/antibiotics.html#bactrim

Did your vet mention using probiotics? See also:

The vet didn’t mention probiotics but maybe I should just give squeak some. Based on that link I could give the a small amount of the powder acidophilus in water in a syringe. So far Squeak is doing ok. But of course I worry.
