I dosed my pigs the usual 4 times with ivermectin two months ago, but recently one of them has been itching again. How long do I need to wait before doing another round of it? And how many doses should I do?

Thanks for any help!

If they're not itching because of mites, ivermectin won't do any good. What if it's fungus?

And what strength of ivermectin were you using? And how much did you give?

Ditto bpatters.

Any other pets in the house?

I'm pretty sure it's not fungus since it just looks like standard mites hairloss, and it cleared up the itching of the other 3 pigs. She stopped itching too for about a month. She is a bit older than them, I don't know if that's contributing.

I used the 1% ivermectin and dosed based on the dose calculator here, like usual. No other pets in the house.

It will not be harmful to repeat a course of treatment for them. Mites can be difficult to get rid of. Demodex mites reportedly are very difficult to get rid of - but are usually not a problem for a healthy guinea pig.

Thanks, hopefully it clears it up the second time. I'm going to be extra vigilant cleaning the cage too.
