Hello I was wondering if anyone could give some advice/information on what the reason for hair loss could be for my 7 year old piggie. He isn't housed with any other pigs as he had a fight with his cage mate a few years ago so I made the decision to split them up. He seems to balding on his lower back and there is no signs of redness or irritation and he doesn't seem to be in any pain or suffering from itchiness. He is still eating and drinking and interacting with me and his cage mate (through the safety of the divider).Thank you in advance and apologies if I am missing something very obvious I am a first time long hair guinea pig dad and am unsure on what to do as google is giving me lots of different answers.

If he has never been treated for mites, I would do that.

Is it possible the other pig he was housed with was biting at him and barbering his hair?

Ditto the advice above.

If you're not already, weigh him regularly and make sure he's holding his weight.

Also, supplement him with vitamin C. Two of my elderly pigs had hair loss that was reversed with additional C.

How much vitamin c would you give for this and which strength?

I'd give 100 mg. per day for a week, then cut back to 35-40 mg. daily. You don't want to do a high dose of C for a long period of time.

Vita Drops. Just don't put it in the water bottle. You can syringe it, or sprinkle it on veggies.
