Saw this on my Facebook feed, in case anyone is able to help. The rescue Atlantic Critters is based in NJ (Galloway?) and I believe is a network of foster homes in NY/NJ/PA area.

"We have been getting about 10+ guinea pig surrender requests per day. It is quite literally impossible for us and the other rescues to try and keep up with this. Please, we are begging you, consider adopting or fostering guinea pigs. Please encourage others to do the same.

The majority of these poor little piggies were impulsively bought at a pet store. Many are missexed and start reproducing, adding to this population problem.

So many rescues agree that it's never been so bad with this amount of surrender requests. If you cannot adopt or foster, please spread the word or consider donating."

I would take a couple if I lived closer.

I would suspect this started as guinea pigs were purchased or received as holiday gifts. The timing is about right.

Makes sense. And busy-ness. Being able to go to school again.
